HELLOBOOKS POS

Point-of-sale that closes the books for you. In one tap.

A retail-grade POS engineered on top of HelloBooks accounting. Every settle posts a canonical journal, every payment hits Undeposited Funds, every GST line rolls into GSTR — no nightly export, no end-of-month reconciliation marathon.

Part of HelloBooks POS · POS Suite

HelloBooks POS dashboard with multi-tender settle screen

HelloBooks POS is built on the same gRPC-first accounting engine that powers our books, payroll, and tax modules — which means a sale at the till is a real journal entry, a real GST line, and a real inventory move the moment it settles. No middleware, no nightly export jobs, no reconciliation drift between your POS database and your GL.

HOW IT WORKS

Every detail, dialled in

Built for the till, validated against the canonical accounting engine — so every POS sale closes the books cleanly.

🧾

Every till is a real accounting client

Each terminal authenticates with a tenant-scoped JWT and writes through the canonical accounting RPCs. Sales, returns, refunds, drawer drops, settlements — they all post with the same audit trail rigor as a manually-keyed invoice. Close-period locks apply at the till too.

  • Canonical journal per settle, never aggregated
  • Tenant + outlet + cashier on every line
  • Period-lock honoured at the terminal
  • Soft-deletes preserve void/refund history
📡

Offline-first, idempotent by design

A flaky 4G signal at the cash counter should not lose a sale. The terminal queues with an idempotent ClientOrderId; on reconnect it batch-syncs in order, and the server rejects duplicates by ID. You keep selling, you keep auditing, you keep settling — even when the internet does not.

  • Idempotent ClientOrderId on every order
  • Local queue with strict ordering
  • Duplicate-safe replay on reconnect
  • No double-billing, ever
🇮🇳

India compliance is a tick-box, not a project

GST, e-invoice IRN, e-way bill threshold, HSN per line, TCS, round-off, GSTR 1/2A/2B/3B/9 — all inherited from the same canonical pipelines you already trust on the books. You toggle them per outlet; we handle the rest.

  • Auto e-invoice IRN + QR on B2B settle
  • Auto e-way bill above threshold
  • HSN inherited from item master
  • GSTR-ready from day one

Why teams move off legacy tills

Old POS · Manual workarounds
  • POS database lives separately from your books
  • Nightly export → manual reconciliation in Excel
  • GST and e-invoice bolted on per till
  • Outlet-level analytics need a separate BI tool
HelloBooks POS
  • POS writes the same journal as a manual invoice
  • Real-time GL — no nightly batch
  • Compliance baked in at the engine level
  • Multi-outlet dashboards out of the box
FAQ

Questions, answered

Is HelloBooks POS a separate product or part of the books?

It is one product. The POS terminal is just another client of the HelloBooks accounting engine, like the web app or the mobile app. Same data, same audit trail, same compliance rules.

Does it work offline?

Yes. Orders queue with an idempotent ClientOrderId and batch-sync on reconnect. The server is duplicate-safe so a botched retry never charges a customer twice.

How many outlets and terminals can I run?

There is no hard limit. Each outlet has its own settings (industry mode, e-way auto, negative-stock policy) and each terminal can be device-fingerprint-locked for safety.

What hardware do I need?

A thermal printer, a barcode scanner, and any Android tablet or Windows till. We support ESC/POS printers, ZPL/TSPL label printers, six EDC vendors, USB / Bluetooth scanners, and weighing scales out of the box.
