Every accountant we know has a calendar on the wall with the 11th, 13th, 20th and 22nd circled in red. If you don't have one yet, this is it. Below are the GSTR-1, GSTR-3B, IFF and PMT-06 due dates for every period in FY 2026-27 (Apr 2026 to Mar 2027), for both monthly and QRMP filers, plus the annual deadlines. One caveat before you print it: CBIC extends dates from time to time, sometimes for a single state or district, so check the GST portal before each deadline.
First, are you monthly or quarterly?
If your aggregate turnover in FY 2025-26 was above ₹5 crore, you're a monthly filer. No choice there.
If it was ₹5 crore or less, you can be on QRMP: quarterly GSTR-1 and GSTR-3B, but monthly tax payment. You may also have stayed monthly by choice. Not sure which you are? Log in to the portal and check your profile under the returns dashboard, which shows your filing preference for each quarter.
Monthly filers: GSTR-1 and GSTR-3B for FY 2026-27

Diwali-season months are the ones to watch. The Oct 2026 return lands in a busy fortnight for most traders, and leaving it until 20 Nov 2026 is asking for trouble.
QRMP filers: the quarterly calendar
Under QRMP, GSTR-1 is due on the 13th after the quarter and GSTR-3B on the 22nd or 24th, depending on your state. In the first two months of each quarter, you pay tax through PMT-06 by the 25th, and can upload B2B invoices through the optional IFF by the 13th.
| Quarter | Month 1: IFF / PMT-06 | Month 2: IFF / PMT-06 | GSTR-1 due | GSTR-3B due (22nd / 24th group) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Apr–Jun 2026 | 13 May 2026 / 25 May 2026 | 13 Jun 2026 / 25 Jun 2026 | 13 Jul 2026 | 22 Jul 2026 / 24 Jul 2026 |
| Jul–Sep 2026 | 13 Aug 2026 / 25 Aug 2026 | 13 Sep 2026 / 25 Sep 2026 | 13 Oct 2026 | 22 Oct 2026 / 24 Oct 2026 |
| Oct–Dec 2026 | 13 Nov 2026 / 25 Nov 2026 | 13 Dec 2026 / 25 Dec 2026 | 13 Jan 2027 | 22 Jan 2027 / 24 Jan 2027 |
| Jan–Mar 2027 | 13 Feb 2027 / 25 Feb 2027 | 13 Mar 2027 / 25 Mar 2027 | 13 Apr 2027 | 22 Apr 2027 / 24 Apr 2027 |
Notice 25 Dec 2026 in that table. Christmas. Due dates that fall on a holiday or weekend aren't automatically moved; they only shift if CBIC notifies an extension. Pay a day or two early and save yourself the worry.
Which group is your state in?
22nd group: Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Goa, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu, Puducherry, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, and Lakshadweep.
24th group: Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Uttarakhand, Haryana, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Meghalaya, Assam, West Bengal, Jharkhand, Odisha, Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Chandigarh and Delhi.
The group goes by the state of your GSTIN, not where your customers are.
Annual and other deadlines worth pinning up
| What | For | Due date |
|---|---|---|
| Last date to claim ITC and amend invoices for FY 2025-26 | All regular taxpayers | 30 Nov 2026 (or earlier, if you file the FY 2025-26 annual return before then) |
| GSTR-9 annual return | FY 2025-26 | 31 Dec 2026 |
| GSTR-9C reconciliation | FY 2025-26, above the turnover limit | 31 Dec 2026 |
| GSTR-9 annual return | FY 2026-27 | 31 Dec 2027 |
| CMP-08 (composition) | Each quarter of FY 2026-27 | 18th of the month after the quarter, e.g. 18 Oct 2026 for Jul–Sep 2026 |
| GSTR-4 (composition annual) | FY 2026-27 | 30 Jun 2027 |
| GSTR-7 and GSTR-8 | Each month | 10th of the next month |
| Opting in or out of QRMP | For the Jan–Mar 2027 quarter | 30 Nov 2026 (last day of the second month of the previous quarter) |
GSTR-9 has been optional in recent years for taxpayers with aggregate turnover up to ₹2 crore. Check the notification for the specific year before you skip it.
What if you miss a date?
Two things start running the day after the due date.
Late fee applies per day. It's ₹50 a day (₹25 CGST plus ₹25 SGST) for a normal return and ₹20 a day for a nil return, with caps that depend on your turnover. Interest at 18% a year runs on any tax paid late in cash.
There's also a newer and harsher rule. Returns become time-barred three years after their due date, and the portal has been enforcing this since the July 2025 tax period. A GSTR-3B for Sep 2023, originally due 20 Oct 2023, can't be filed after 20 Oct 2026. If you have old gaps, close them now, and talk to a CA if there are many.
How to actually stay on time
Calendars don't file returns. Routines do. Here's a simple one that works for most small businesses:
- By the 5th, record every sale and purchase from the previous month.
- By the 9th, review and file GSTR-1 (monthly) or IFF if you want your buyers to get credit sooner.
- On the 15th, check GSTR-2B and reconcile.
- By the 18th, pay and file GSTR-3B, or pay PMT-06 by the 23rd or so in QRMP months.
Set phone reminders two days before each date, not on the day. The portal slows right down on deadline evenings.
How HelloBooks helps
HelloBooks can't move the calendar, but it shortens the work before each date. GSTR-1 and GSTR-3B are built from the invoices and bills already in your books and filed directly to the GST portal from inside HelloBooks, so the gap between "books are ready" and "return is filed" is small. If you are late, GSTR-3B's interest and late fee are shown as the GST portal's own figure before you file.
On HelloBooks Free (₹0, no card, no expiry) you get unlimited GSTR-1 and GSTR-3B filing for one GSTIN, GSTR-2B reconciliation, 2 users and up to 200 transactions a year. GSTR-9 isn't on Free; on Pro it's generated ready to file. Compare plans on the pricing page, or see the full list of GST returns HelloBooks handles.
FAQs
What is the GSTR-3B due date for Sep 2026?
For monthly filers, 20 Oct 2026. For QRMP filers, the Jul–Sep 2026 quarterly GSTR-3B is due on 22 Oct 2026 or 24 Oct 2026, depending on your state. Check the portal for any extension.
Are due dates extended if they fall on a Sunday?
Not automatically. Extensions happen only when CBIC issues a notification. Plan to file before the date.
When is GSTR-9 for FY 2025-26 due?
31 Dec 2026, unless extended. Taxpayers below the notified turnover limit may be exempt; confirm on the portal.
Can I switch from monthly to QRMP in the middle of FY 2026-27?
Yes, if you're eligible. The opt-in window for a quarter closes on the last day of the second month of the previous quarter. To switch for the Jan–Mar 2027 quarter, you'd opt in by 30 Nov 2026.
Has CBIC extended any FY 2026-27 due dates?
Extensions are announced through notifications, sometimes only for certain states or districts. Always check the GST portal and CBIC website close to each deadline.
Print it, circle your dates, and then try to beat each one by two days.
