GST Calculator
Calculate GST in India at any of the five standard slabs (0 / 5 / 12 / 18 / 28 %), with a clear CGST / SGST or IGST split and an inclusive ↔ exclusive toggle. No signup, no logging — every figure is computed in your browser.
How to use this GST calculator
Enter the amount, choose the GST rate that applies to your product or service, and tell the calculator whether the amount is exclusive of GST (taxable value, GST added on top) or inclusive (final price already contains GST). Then choose the supply type: intra-state, where GST is split as CGST + SGST equally, or inter-state, where the full rate is charged as IGST. The breakdown updates instantly with the taxable value, the GST components, and the total invoice value.
For B2B invoices, you typically quote exclusive and show the GST as a separate line. For retail MRP and consumer-facing prices, the amount is inclusive and the GST is already baked in — use the inclusive mode to back out the taxable value. Note that this calculator handles the base GST rate only; compensation cess on luxury and sin goods is item-specific and not included here.

Frequently asked questions
- How is GST calculated in India?
- GST is calculated on the taxable value of a supply at a single applicable rate — 0 %, 5 %, 12 %, 18 %, or 28 %. For intra-state supplies the rate is split into CGST and SGST / UTGST (half each); for inter-state supplies the full rate is charged as IGST. If the price you quoted is exclusive of GST, multiply by the rate to get the tax; if it's inclusive, divide by (1 + rate/100) to back out the taxable value.
- When is CGST + SGST charged versus IGST?
- If the place of supply and the supplier's location are in the same state or union territory, it's an intra-state supply and you charge CGST + SGST (or CGST + UTGST). If they are in different states, it's inter-state and you charge IGST at the full rate. The total tax is the same; only the split (and which exchequer collects what) changes.
- What's the difference between "GST inclusive" and "GST exclusive" pricing?
- "Exclusive" means the price you see is the taxable value and GST is added on top. "Inclusive" means the price already contains GST. On retail tags and MRP, prices are typically inclusive; on B2B invoices, they are typically exclusive with GST shown as a separate line. Use the toggle in this tool to switch between the two modes — the calculator reverse-engineers the taxable value when you pick "inclusive".
- Does this tool handle the GST compensation cess?
- No — the calculator covers only the base GST rate. A handful of items (tobacco, aerated drinks, motor cars over a certain capacity, coal, etc.) attract an additional compensation cess on top of the 28 % GST. Cess rates vary per item, so look them up against the CBIC schedule and add them manually if your supply is one of those categories.
