Profit by branch tracking UAE chains use to decide where to grow

A salon chain with branches in Dubai Mall, Al Ain and Ajman can be profitable overall while one branch quietly loses money. Without branch-level accounts, nobody notices until the lease renewal. HelloBooks tags every sale and cost to a branch, so you get a profit and loss for each location, and the AI agent tells you which ones carry the others.

How the HelloBooks AI agent handles it

You ask in plain English, the AI does the bookkeeping work, and you or your accountant approve the result.

  • You ask: “Which branch made the least profit this year after head office costs?”
  • The AI agent: The agent runs the profit and loss by branch, applies the head office allocation you have set up, ranks the branches and explains the weakest one, for example rent at 31% of its sales against 18% elsewhere.
  • You review: You agree how shared costs are allocated and decide what the numbers mean for staffing, pricing or the lease.

Setting up branches

Each branch becomes a tracking category. Customers, items, bank accounts and employees can have a default branch, so most entries are tagged without extra work. When a bill could belong to more than one branch, the AI suggests a split based on past bills from that supplier.

Branches can be grouped by emirate. That gives you an emirate-level view, which also helps with the VAT return, where standard-rated sales are reported by emirate.

  • Branch tag on every invoice line and bill line
  • Defaults by customer, item, bank account and staff
  • Grouping by emirate
  • Head office costs allocated by a rule you choose

Worked example: a three-branch optical chain

An optical retailer has branches in Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Ras Al Khaimah. The year's P&L shows AED 3.4 million of sales and AED 410,000 of profit before head office costs. By branch, Dubai earns AED 290,000, Abu Dhabi AED 175,000 and Ras Al Khaimah loses AED 55,000. After allocating AED 240,000 of head office costs by sales, the agent shows Ras Al Khaimah at minus AED 95,000, with staff costs and rent both well above the other two. The owner renegotiates the lease rather than closing outright.

Projects, vans and salespeople too

The same tagging works for anything you want to measure: a project, a delivery van, a salesperson or a product line. If your reporting needs are more particular, such as a monthly branch pack for investors, our team can build it with you after a call booked at /book-a-demo.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Can one invoice cover several branches?
Yes. Each line carries its own branch tag, so a single invoice can be split across locations.
Can branch managers see only their own branch?
Yes. With advanced role-based access on the Business plan, a manager can be limited to reports for their branch.
Is a branch the same as a separate company?
No. Branches share one set of books and one TRN. If a location is a separate legal entity, set it up as its own organisation instead.
