Cash flow forecast template UAE: a 13-week view

Profit is an opinion; cash in the bank is a fact. UAE businesses face lumpy outflows that a simple monthly view misses: quarterly VAT payments, trade licence and visa renewals, annual rent cheques and post-dated cheques from customers that may or may not clear. A rolling 13-week forecast puts those dates in front of you. This page sets out the rows, a worked example and how to keep it current with little effort.

Rows and columns

Columns are weeks, starting with the current week. Rows follow cash, not accounting categories.

  • Opening bank balance, across all accounts converted to AED
  • Receipts: customer collections from the AR ageing, PDCs maturing, other income
  • Payments: suppliers from the AP ageing, salaries, rent cheques, utilities
  • Government and tax: VAT payments, corporate tax, trade licence and visa costs
  • Financing: loan instalments, owner drawings or capital injections
  • Net cash flow for the week and closing balance
  • Minimum cash buffer line, so shortfalls stand out

UAE dates to load first

Before you forecast trading, put in the fixed dates you already know. They are the ones that cause surprises.

  • VAT return due dates, 28 days after each tax period, with the expected payment
  • Corporate tax payment, due within 9 months of the year end
  • Rent cheques, often two to four a year
  • Trade licence renewal and staff visa renewals by month
  • End-of-service payments for staff leaving

Worked example: a Dubai marketing agency

The agency opens week 1 with AED 186,000. Monthly payroll is AED 140,000 in week 2; a rent cheque of AED 95,000 falls in week 6; the quarterly VAT payment of AED 31,500 is due in week 4.

  • Weeks 1-4: collections AED 212,000, payments AED 228,500 including payroll and VAT; closing AED 169,500
  • Weeks 5-8: collections AED 168,000, payments AED 279,000 including payroll and rent; closing AED 58,500
  • Week 8 dips below the AED 75,000 buffer, so the owner chases two overdue clients and asks the landlord to move the cheque two weeks
  • Weeks 9-13: collections AED 245,000, payments AED 176,000; closing AED 127,500

Forecasting with HelloBooks

HelloBooks already holds the inputs: AR and AP ageing, recurring bills, payroll journals from HelloTime and your bank balances from uploaded statements. Ask the AI agent "will I have enough cash for payroll and rent next month?" and it answers with the weeks that look tight and the invoices driving them.

It is still your forecast. You add the judgement calls, such as which customers will really pay on time. A firm that wants a 13-week forecast report in its own layout for every client can request it as a customisation through /book-a-demo.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Why 13 weeks?
It covers a full quarter, so it always includes at least one VAT payment, while staying short enough to forecast week by week with some accuracy.
Should PDCs count as cash?
Show them in the week they mature, not the week you receive them, and consider a risk discount for customers with a history of bounced cheques.
How often should I update the forecast?
Weekly. Roll it forward one week, replace forecast figures with actuals and look at the new week 13.
