UAE e-invoicing readiness checker: 12 questions

The UAE moves B2B and B2G invoicing to a structured electronic format from 2027, sent through an accredited service provider. Readiness is mostly about data you already hold: clean customer TRNs, consistent item descriptions and VAT treatments on every line. Work through these twelve questions with your accountant. Every "no" is a task, and most of them can be fixed in your books well before your go-live date.

Scope and timing

Start by confirming that the mandate applies to you and when. Ministerial Decisions 243 and 244 of 2025 set the rules, as amended in 2026: businesses with revenue of AED 50 million or more appoint a provider by 30 October 2026 and go live on 1 January 2027; others appoint by 31 March 2027 and go live on 1 July 2027. B2C sales are excluded until further notice, and Ministerial Decision No. 197 of 2026 excludes transactions between members of the same tax group for 24 months from 1 January 2027.

  • 1. Do you know your revenue band, and therefore your appointment and go-live dates?
  • 2. Have you listed which of your sales are B2B or B2G and which are B2C?
  • 3. Have you checked whether any of your income falls in the excluded categories, such as certain international transport, exempt financial services or sales inside your own tax group?

Your data

The Ministry of Finance's mandatory fields document lists 41 fields for an electronic tax invoice, built on PINT-AE, the UAE version of the Peppol International specification. Many of those fields come straight from your customer and item records, so gaps there become rejected invoices later.

  • 4. Does every VAT-registered customer record hold a verified 15-digit TRN?
  • 5. Are customer legal names and addresses held exactly as on their trade licence?
  • 6. Does every invoice line carry a VAT category and rate, not just an invoice-level total?
  • 7. Are item names and descriptions consistent, rather than typed fresh each time?
  • 8. Do foreign-currency invoices show the AED VAT amount and the exchange rate used?

Provider, process and people

Every in-scope business must appoint an accredited service provider (ASP) from the Ministry of Finance list. The provider converts and exchanges invoices and reports data to the FTA. Your accounting records still need to match what the provider sends.

  • 9. Have you shortlisted providers from the Ministry of Finance accredited list?
  • 10. Do you know who in the business approves invoices before they are sent?
  • 11. Is there a process for credit notes, which also move to the electronic format?
  • 12. Can you match each e-invoice your provider sends back to the entry in your ledger?

Where HelloBooks fits

HelloBooks is your ledger, not your e-invoicing provider. What it does is keep the invoice data in the shape you will need: customer TRNs on file, line-level VAT treatments, AED tax amounts on foreign-currency invoices and a complete audit trail. Ask the AI agent "which customers are missing a TRN?" and it lists them, with the invoices affected.

The appointment of an ASP and any connection to it are decisions for the business. If you want a readiness review of your customer and item data before you choose, book a call at /book-a-demo and the team will walk through your records with you.

No. You must appoint an accredited provider from the Ministry of Finance list. HelloBooks keeps the complete invoice records the business needs alongside it.
