Part of HelloBooks POS · Inventory at POS
Onboarding 5,000 SKUs is what makes or breaks a POS rollout. HelloBooks ships per-industry CSV templates that already encode the right columns (style/colour/size for apparel, batch/expiry for pharmacy, weight/purity for jewellery), and a chunked importer that previews before committing.
Every detail, dialled in
Built for the till, validated against the canonical accounting engine — so every POS sale closes the books cleanly.
Per-industry templates
A pharmacy upload needs batch and expiry; a jewellery upload needs purity and weight; an apparel upload needs colour, size, and style. We ship the right template per industry — no “figure out the columns yourself”.
- Apparel / footwear (style × colour × size)
- Pharmacy (batch / expiry / Schedule)
- Jewellery (purity / weight / hallmark)
- Restaurant / mandi / grocery
Diff preview before commit
After upload, the importer shows what is new, what changes, and what looks suspicious (negative stock, missing HSN, duplicate SKU). Fix the spreadsheet, re-upload, repeat.
- New / change / warning view
- Cell-level diff
- Validation per row
- Cancel without commit
Chunked import
Upload 50,000 SKUs in one file; we import in 500-row chunks with progress. If row 12,734 fails, the rest still goes through and the failure ends up in a downloadable report.
- 500-row chunks
- Resumable on failure
- Failure report download
- Background processing
Why teams move off legacy tills
- Generic CSV with no validation
- Import fails on first bad row
- No preview
- Duplicate SKUs slip through
- Industry-specific templates
- Chunked, resumable import
- Diff preview before commit
- Validation catches duplicates
Questions, answered
Can I edit the template?
Yes — the template is a CSV. Add columns we recognise (custom fields) or skip optional ones; the importer respects your shape.
What happens if a row fails?
It is captured in a failure report (CSV download). The rest of the chunk imports successfully. Fix the failed rows and re-upload.
Can I re-upload to update?
Yes. The importer matches by SKU; existing rows are updated, new rows are created. No duplicates.
How big can the file be?
We test up to 100,000 rows. Larger uploads work but split into multiple files for safety.
