Arabic English invoice template for UAE businesses

Plenty of UAE customers, especially government entities and family-owned groups, prefer invoices in Arabic as well as English. The VAT rules do not demand an Arabic invoice, but the FTA can ask for an Arabic translation of any document, so a bilingual layout saves work later. This page explains which parts to translate, how to arrange two scripts on one page and what a finished bilingual invoice looks like.

Is Arabic required?

Tax invoices may be issued in Arabic, in English or in both. The authority can request an Arabic translation of documents it reviews, which is a practical reason to have key fields in Arabic already. Some government buyers and semi-government entities write Arabic into their procurement terms, so read the purchase order before you send the first invoice.

The required particulars are the same whatever the language: the "Tax Invoice" heading, both TRNs, a sequential number, dates, line details, the VAT amount in AED and the total.

Which fields to show in both languages

Labels are the easy part because they never change. Customer names and line descriptions take more care, since a poor machine translation reads badly to an Arabic-speaking finance team.

  • Heading: Tax Invoice / فاتورة ضريبية
  • Field labels: invoice number, date, TRN, quantity, unit price, VAT, total
  • Your legal name as it appears in Arabic on your trade licence
  • The customer's Arabic legal name, copied from their licence or PO
  • Line descriptions, where the customer asks for them
  • Amounts in Western digits for both languages, so totals match exactly

Layout tips and a sample

Run English left to right on the left half and Arabic right to left on the right half, with figures in a shared central column. Avoid stacking long Arabic text under English in the same cell; it wraps unpredictably when printed.

  • Heading: Tax Invoice | فاتورة ضريبية
  • Supplier: Sahara Print House LLC | شركة دار صحارى للطباعة ذ.م.م, Sharjah, TRN 100XXXXXXXXX009
  • Customer: a Sharjah government department, TRN 100XXXXXXXXX002
  • Line: 2,000 annual report copies | ٢٠٠٠ نسخة من التقرير السنوي, AED 21 each, net AED 42,000, VAT 5% AED 2,100
  • Total due | المبلغ المستحق: AED 44,100.00

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Must a UAE tax invoice be in Arabic?
No. It can be in English, Arabic or both. The FTA can request an Arabic translation of documents, and some customers require Arabic in their terms.
Should the amounts be in Arabic numerals?
Using the same Western digits on both halves keeps totals identical and avoids transcription errors. Arabic-Indic digits are fine for labels if a customer prefers them.
Does HelloBooks have an Arabic interface?
No. The interface is in English. HelloBooks reads Arabic documents, and a bilingual invoice layout can be configured on request.
