Lighter bars include compensation cess (to October 2025). Darker bars are CGST, SGST and IGST only (from November 2025). That change in what is counted explains most of the step down in late 2025, so compare growth using the official percentages in the table, not the bar lengths.

Where these numbers come from
GSTN publishes a report titled “Gross and Net GST revenue collections” on the 1st of each month, under News & Updates on the GST portal. April and May 2024 come from the PIB press releases that preceded those reports. Each gross figure was checked against a second source, usually the following year's report, which restates the same month. Where a later report revised net collections or refunds, we use the later figure. This page was last checked on October 10, 2026.
Frequently asked questions
How much GST was collected in September 2026?
Gross GST collection for September 2026 was ₹2,03,521 cr (₹2.04 lakh crore), up 14.7% year on year. Net collection after refunds was ₹1,76,520 cr. These are the provisional figures GSTN published.
When is monthly GST collection data released?
GSTN publishes the previous month's gross and net GST collections on the 1st of each month, as a PDF report under News & Updates on the GST portal. The figures are provisional.
Why did GST collections seem to drop in November 2025?
Mostly because of a change in what is counted. Up to October 2025 the headline gross included compensation cess. From November 2025, after GST 2.0 folded the cess into the new rates, the headline gross covers CGST, SGST and IGST only, and the official growth rate compares against the previous year restated the same way.
What was the highest monthly GST collection?
The highest month in this series is April 2026, at ₹2,42,702 cr. April is usually the peak because it carries year-end March sales.
