Best Software for CA Firms in India (2026)

Short answer: most Indian practices run a stack, not one tool. Tally Prime is still where most client books live. Clear handles high-volume GST compliance across many GSTINs. Vyapar TaxOne (formerly Suvit) automates document collection and voucher entry into Tally. HelloBooks moves clients onto cloud books with AI bookkeeping and GST filing, run from one partner dashboard. TaxDome covers practice workflow and the client portal. Below, each tool is matched to the job it does best, with pricing.

How we chose these

We looked at the jobs an Indian practice actually has to get done: keeping client books, GST returns and reconciliation across many GSTINs, getting documents and vouchers in from clients, and running the firm's own workflow. We only list tools whose pricing and capabilities we have checked against the vendor's own pages, and each entry says when. No vendor paid for a place. We make HelloBooks, so read our own entry with that in mind. We do not score the tools, because most firms use more than one.

Tally Prime

by Tally Solutions

Best for keeping client books where every CA already works

The desktop general ledger most Indian accountants trained on, and still where most client books live.

Pros

  • Every CA in India knows Tally — book-closure handoff is frictionless.
  • Multi-godown, batch, expiry, MRP, free-quantity — all natively handled.
  • Mature GST + e-invoice + e-way bill stack; Connected GST filing since release 5.0 and Connected Banking since 6.0 (current release 7.1, May 2026).

Cons

  • Desktop-bound; remote/multi-location traders fight VPN + Sync.
  • No AI-learned categorization of bank transactions as of July 2026 — Tally documents no automatic ledger suggestion for unmatched lines and no user-defined matching rules; no ChatGPT-style queries. (Native bill OCR, "Docs by Ira", was announced June 2026 and is in phased rollout.)
  • Customisation requires TDL expertise; locks you into a Tally implementer.
Pricing: ₹22,500 (one-time, Silver edition) · Plus ~₹6,750/yr for upgrades + AMC.

ClearTax (now Clear)

by Defmacro Software (Clear)

Best for high-volume GST compliance across many GSTINs

GST filing and reconciliation specialist used widely by CA practices: the full return suite and large-scale GSTR-2B reconciliation, sitting alongside the ledger rather than replacing it.

Pros

  • Deepest GSTR-2A/2B reconciliation in the market.
  • E-invoice + e-way bill APIs that other tools integrate against.
  • Trusted by enterprise tax teams.

Cons

  • Not a full accounting system — needs to sit alongside Tally / HelloBooks / etc.
  • Pricing climbs with seat count and reconciliation volume.
Pricing: Quoted · Enterprise pricing only for GST + e-invoice modules.

Vyapar TaxOne (formerly Suvit)

by Vyapar

Best for automating voucher entry into clients’ Tally

Pre-accounting automation sold to CA firms: collect client documents over WhatsApp, read them with OCR, map ledgers and push vouchers into Tally or Vyapar. Suvit was acquired by Vyapar and rebranded TaxOne in December 2025.

Pros

  • Automated WhatsApp reminders for chasing client documents.
  • Reconciliation across GSTR-1, 2A, 2B and IMS with 30+ validations.
  • One flat plan for unlimited uploads across your client book.

Cons

  • Not a general ledger: you still need Tally or Vyapar underneath it.
  • Direct GSTN filing, e-invoicing and e-way bills are not claimed on the product site (checked July 2026).
  • No free tier; a 7-day trial only.
Pricing: ₹10,000/yr + GST · Single plan, list ₹20,000. Checked 28 July 2026.

HelloBooks

by Meru Fin Tech

Best for moving clients onto cloud books with AI and in-app GST filing

Cloud double-entry accounting with AI bookkeeping and GST filing, plus a free Partner Program for CA firms that run their clients on it.

Pros

  • Free Partner Program: one practice dashboard for unlimited clients, with bulk AI operations across them.
  • Resell Pro and Business to clients at a wholesale discount that grows from 5% to 20%.
  • Clients get GSTR-1 and 3B filing, GSTR-9 generated ready to file, e-invoicing and Tally sync on Pro.
  • The Tally 6.2 connector keeps every voucher number on import and can keep pushing to Tally.

Cons

  • Practice management (workflow, client portal) is not yet available in India — there is a waitlist.
  • CA-network familiarity is still catching up with Tally.
  • Founded in 2024, so a much shorter track record than Tally or Clear.
Pricing: Partner Program free · Client plans: Free, or Pro ₹499/mo, Business ₹1,999/mo.

Zoho Books

by Zoho Corporation

Best for practices whose clients already run Zoho apps

Premium cloud accounting with strong GST coverage; great if you already run Zoho CRM / Inventory / People.

Pros

  • Tight integration across the Zoho One bundle (CRM, Inventory, People).
  • GSTR-1 / 3B / 9 reconciliation and e-invoice wiring is mature.
  • Clean UI; better designer-grade UX than Indian incumbents.

Cons

  • Pricing climbs fast once you add Inventory + automation.
  • AI capabilities exist (Zia) but are shallower than dedicated AI-first products.
Pricing: ₹899/mo (Standard, 3 users) · ₹749/mo billed annually. Premium ₹3,599/mo, Elite ₹5,999/mo, Ultimate ₹9,599/mo. Extra users ₹180/mo each; all prices exclude GST.

TaxDome

by TaxDome

Best for practice workflow, client portal and e-signatures (USD pricing)

Pros

  • Mature workflow and pipeline automation for running a practice.
  • Secure client portal with unlimited document storage and e-signatures.
