How to calculate South Dakota sales tax
Multiply the price by the combined rate. At the 4.2% state rate, a $250.00 sale carries $10.50 of sales tax, for a total of $260.50. Add the county, city or district rate for the delivery address to get the full rate for that sale.
To find the tax inside a total that already includes it, divide the total by 1 plus the rate. A $107.00 receipt at 4.2% is $102.69 before tax and $4.31 of tax.
