How to calculate Massachusetts sales tax
Multiply the price by the combined rate. At the 6.25% statewide rate, a $250.00 sale carries $15.63 of sales tax, for a total of $265.63. Add the county, city or district rate for the delivery address to get the full rate for that sale.
To find the tax inside a total that already includes it, divide the total by 1 plus the rate. A $107.00 receipt at 6.25% is $100.71 before tax and $6.29 of tax.
