The consent rule
In FCC 24-17, adopted February 2, 2024 and released February 8, 2024, the FCC confirmed that the TCPA’s restrictions on “artificial or prerecorded voice” cover current AI technologies that generate human voices. Calls using them need the called party’s prior express consent, absent an emergency purpose or an exemption.
Any firm planning AI calls, whether with HelloBooks (coming soon) or with another tool, should collect and record that consent before the first call and get its own advice on the TCPA.
