Threshold-driven, outlet-toggleable
When a POS sale crosses the e-way bill value threshold, HelloBooks fires the canonical e-way module — same as the back office. The driver gets a printed e-way; the books reflect the issue.
Part of HelloBooks POS · Compliance & tax (India)
An e-way bill at the till matters when retail starts to look like wholesale — bulk grocery loads, jewellery dispatches, electronics deliveries. HelloBooks watches the bill value at settle, applies the per-state threshold, and triggers the e-way module without leaving the cash counter.
Every detail, dialled in
Built for the till, validated against the canonical accounting engine — so every POS sale closes the books cleanly.
Per-state threshold check
Each Indian state has its own e-way threshold and intra-state nuances. The engine checks bill value against the right rule and fires only when needed — no redundant e-ways for small bills.
- State-aware threshold logic
- Intra-state vs inter-state handled
- Outlet-level override
- Auto-fires only when needed
Vehicle + transporter capture
When the till identifies that an e-way is needed, the cashier sees a quick form for vehicle, transporter, and distance. Pre-saved transporters auto-complete; saved vehicles per outlet make this a 5-second step.
- Vehicle + transporter required
- Saved transporters auto-complete
- Distance pre-filled outlet → delivery
- Per-outlet preferred carrier
Cancel + extend supported
If the bill cancels or the vehicle does not roll within the e-way validity, the canonical extend / cancel endpoints fire from the till. No portal hops.
- Auto-cancel on bill-cancel
- Extend on vehicle delay
- Audit trail per state change
- GST portal sync intact
Why teams move off legacy tills
- E-way bill manual on the GST portal
- No threshold awareness at the till
- Driver waits at the gate
- Cancel handled in two places
- Auto-fire above threshold
- Vehicle + transporter captured at till
- Driver leaves with a printed e-way
- Cancel one-click from the bill
Questions, answered
How does the till know the threshold?
We carry the per-state intra/inter-state thresholds in the engine and update them as the GSTN changes them. The till just hands over the bill; the engine decides.
What if the customer self-arranges transport?
The cashier types the vehicle; the customer takes a printed e-way; the bill is closed. We do not need a transporter ID for own-vehicle moves.
Does this cover Part-A and Part-B?
Yes. Part-A goes with the bill at settle; Part-B goes with the vehicle once the cashier types it. Both are part of the same canonical pipeline.
Can I disable e-way at a low-volume outlet?
Yes — outlet-level toggle. Counter outlets that never breach threshold can opt out and never see the dialog.
